SSC Stenographer Exam Grade C and D Vacancies 2016-17

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) invited applications for filling up vacancies of Steno Grade C and Steno Grade D through Stenographer Grade C & D Exam 2016. The written examination for recruitment of Stenographers will be held on 31 July, 2016. SSC Stenographer, Grade C, Grade D, Steno Vacancy
Total Number of Vacancies - Vacancy details will be intimated after finalization of vacancies by the Commission. SSC Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Vacancies will be filled in Ministries/ Departments of Central Government including their Attached/ Subordinate offices located in States/ UTs all over the country.

Grade D - 642 Vacancies

Age Limit (As on 01.08.2016)
18 to 27 years i.e. a candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.08.1989 and not later than 01.08.1998.
Educational Qualification (As on 01.08.2016)
Intermediate/ 10+2/ 12th class pass or equivalent qualification from a recognised Board or University.

Selection Procedure
SSC Steno Recruitment process will consist of an Objective Type Written Test and Skill Test in stenography. Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the Written Test will be called for the Skill Test of qualifying nature. Application Fee - Rs. 100/-
Fee can be paid through SBI Challan/ Net banking/ Credit card/ Debit card.  SC, ST, Women, Persons with disability and Ex-serviceman candidates are exempted from payment of fee.

How to Apply
Eligible and interested candidates may submit application for SSC Steno Recruitment 2016 Online through the website www.ssconline.nic.in upto 03 June 2016. Online application contains two parts as Registration Part and Application Part. Registration Part is for filling basic information and Application Part is required for payment details, uploading of photograph and scanned signature. Candidates should Read the Instructions and fill all the required details carefully while filling up the Registration Part & Apply Part.

Admit Card or Admission certificate for SSC Steno written exam will not be sent by Post. Written Exam Scheme/ Pattern
Part 1 (General Intelligence & Reasoning) - 50 Questions (50 Marks)
Part 2 (General Awareness) - 50 Questions (50 Marks)
Part 3 (English Language and Comprehension) - 100 Questions (100 Marks)
Total Duration and Timing
General candidates - 2 Hours (10.00 AM to 12.00 PM or 02.00 PM to 04.00 PM)
Visually Handicapped/ cerebral palsy candidates - 2 Hours 40 mins (10.00 AM to 12.40 PM or 02.00 PM to 04.40 PM)

SSC Steno Exam Syllabus
Question Paper for SSC Steno Grade C & D Written Exam will consist of total 200 Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. SSC Stenographer Question paper will comprise of 3 parts as per the syllabus given below. The questions (except in Part 3) will be set both in English and Hindi.
General Intelligence & Reasoning (Part 1) - It generally comprises of questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. This part will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. This part will also include questions designed to test the candidate�s abilities to deal with abstract ideas, symbols & their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

General Awareness (Part 2) - Questions in this part will be designed to test the ability of the candidate�s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. This part will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

English Language & Comprehension (Part 3) - In addition to the testing of candidates' understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability, would also be tested.

Skill Test in Stenography - Candidates qualified in the Written Exam will only be called for the Skill Test of qualifying nature. In the Skill Test, there is no exemption for any category of candidates. The Skill Test will be held at the SSC Regional/ Sub Regional Offices or at other Centres as decided by the Commission. The Skill Test (of qualifying nature) will consist of:
Dictation - 10 minutes in English/ Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Steno Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Steno Grade D
Transcription time - 50 minutes (English)/ 65 minutes (Hindi) for the post of Steno Grade D and 40 minutes (English)/ 55 minutes (Hindi) for the post of Steno Grade C
